Today’s post is kinda special. Nothing to do with wargaming or boardgames or card games, but it’s a celebration for one of our own. Those of you who are on my friends list on Bookface would have seen a bunch of pics go up on Saturday with the hashtag #TheBoutiliers. The reason for this was the wedding of Lostie Ayden “Boots” Boutilier to his lovely bride, the newly minted Melissa Boutilier. I was honoured to be invited to witness the proceedings, and because I’m me, you get to a window in to the event as Lost Hemisphere celebrates the wedding of one of our own, and I have an excuse to doctor the banner that used to run on top of Boots’ articles.
“One of these days, kid, yer gonna see yer name in lights! Or at least, ya know, yer first initial.”
The man himself, escorting his mama down the aisle. She was a little moved by the moment.
Rings and rose petals are serious business.
The Maid of Honor, and then…
The lovely bride, escorted by her father.
I loved this. From the moment they were side by side at the front of the chapel, their arms reached around to rest near the small of each other’s backs. Supporting each other is a critical part of any marriage, and from the word go these two told each other without a single word “I’ve got your back.”
Yes, I’m a sappy git. Deal with it.
Rings and rose petals continue to be serious business.
Words are said, vows, are exchanged, and then…
Rings and rose petals are ser… waitaminute, with no rings, I can totally play with this stringy thing…
Ladies and Gentlelost, Mr and Mrs Ayden and Melissia Boutilier.
Plarzoid, Ladyzoid, Northblade, Ladyblade, Li’l Miss Blade, and of course, Gdaybloke. I’ll leave it to you to decide which is which.
You knew full well it was only a matter of time til one of these selfies showed up in the feed. We confused the issue by having multiple phones out, so looking in different directions was a thing.
And then we were joined by a no-longer-wild Boots!!!
To fill in some time while Mr and Mrs Boots were getting photos taken, I dropped by the Geekery, a boardgame pun in the Niagara region. They had Somersby and I got to play Adventure Time Love Letter with strangers. Good times.
Oh my, what are those two dashing gentlemen doing?
Why they’re being chauffeured around in a Rolls Royce, of course.
Northblade: Classy as fudge.

I was at the wedding solo, so I scored the groom.
Reception at Club Italia was pretty damn swanky. The Merlot was in front of my place setting. I’m not sure what the subtext is here.
There was a wall behind me, I couldn’t back up far enough to get the backs of the guys’ heads in.
Blurry first dance pics. My camera was emotional, don’t judge.
I was feeling a little instagrammy about my prime rib.
Ah, what a lovely cake… A little traditional though, I would have expected something a little geekier from Boots…
But wait! IT IS!
The cake toppers were even Hordes models! The Bride in white, the Groom in black. Hard to see in his pic, I know, but Grim’s right forearm even has Boot’s tattoos! Paintjobs by Artisan’s Edge.
A fine selection of long brown flammable things for the patrons and guests to enjoy.
DAMMIT, PLARZ, GET YOUR MITTS OFF MY BLACKBERRIES!
Some more significant dances, like Boots and MommaBoots, and then…
It was time for hoverkids!
I have no idea why this photo is so blown out, but aren’t they a sweet couple… so calm… so serene… so…
… so just waiting to cut a rug! The Zoids broke out the swing!

How to win a Bloke over: Candy bar…
Daddy-daughter dancing is a thing.
Oh look, they’re being all calm and serene again…
And since this was the first time I’d actually had the pleasure of meeting Ladyzoid, last photo is the Zoids and I with a rogue Boots looming in the background. He does that very well, I must say.
So here’s to Boots and his lovely bride. I wish you the absolute very best as you take on the world side-by-side. Congratulations, and thank you for allowing me to be a part of your special day.
