MonPoc: Run, Surface Dwellers!

Quake in terror, surface dwellers! Tremble in your pathetic human boots! The Subterran Uprising is upon you, and Hammerklak is here to bore you to death! Wait… that last one didn’t quite sound right as a tunneling geological pun… Bah! Hammerklak and his Mollocks care not for your sophisticated humor! Only for your submission and/or demise, as the Subterrans rise to bring your surface society crashing down around you!

As mole people go, Hammerklak’s actually quite a gentle soul, seeking only to better himself and to gain a sense of harmony and one-ness with the universe. Ain’t his fault you surface dwellers are totally harshing his vibe. We unboxed Hammerklak awhile back, but with his finally finding space on the painting table, along with the Mollock Brutes and Mollock Berserker, it was time to put our high lord of the clamps back in the spotlight.

I’m so in love with this model, it’s such an amazing improvement on the old plastic one from a decade ago and it was so much fun to paint. The base is staying black for now, until I decide on a basing scheme for the faction. I’ll likely hold off until I get another monster or two (Hellooo Blastikutter!) so I can make sure they’re all uniform.

The Mollock Berserker may look like he’s trying to high-five you, and I guess he kinda is, but he’s going to bring that enormous mitt with its huge digging claws down on you like the wrath of Picard’s facepalm. Make no mistake, his name is Berserker for a reason, as he tears through enemy units with extra attacks and heaven forbid you wound him and rile him up into extra Power die…

The Mollock Brutes aren’t as fast as the Berserker, but they’re a little sturdier, and cunning tunnelers, making them harder to target with blast attacks until they’re all up in your grill. Demolisher also means those piercers and nose-saws are excellent at tearing down fortifications as well. Who said star-nosed moles were cute? These guys haven’t got time for platitudes…

I’m super excited for the opportunity to get these guys on the tabletop. They were a lot of fun to paint, and there a lot of Protectors to grind into the substrate. The Subterran Uprising is here, puny humans…
