Paint The Target

October arrives, and with it, a new month’s Target gallery and challenge! September’s challenge was “Landscaping”, and as usual contributors had free rein to interpret the term. Fancy bases? Good. Terrain? Good. A model with a shovel? Good. Something that makes craters? Good. Participants are actively encouraged to get creative with their interpretations, since – as always – the goal is to get people painting, and someone’s gonna win something. On with the show!

SimonS sent in not one, but two Relic Knights, showcasing their bases. Kisa’s relik is surrounded by glowing crystalline scratching posts, and Zineda’s forgotten her damn pants again. You’d think the Noh Empire would be on top of things like that.

Wallorspin’s Marcher Worlds starter is all painted up, and they’re looking to terraform distant world through the application of explosives and arc energy. Oh, and the flamethrower on the Duskwolf.

From 49, a Leviathan Siege Dreadnought from the Leviathan chapter, all set to landscape some opponents into the ground.

Cornelius Basse is the master of the Frontier keyword in Malifaux, working for both the Guild and the Explorer’s Society, searching for good places to turn into new settlements. That’s what Lostie Ben tells me, anyway.

DrQ’s Grundstock Gunhauler believes in landscaping from a distance, through judicious use of explosives.

The Weed is a semi-sentient fungal bloom. Fiendil has advised that it is not a good idea to try to harvest the growths to kick up your surf n’ turf a notch.

It’s still pending some water effects, but KrrNiGit’s custom Loonshrine – complete with goblin drowning at its peak – is worthy of the Bad Moon itself.

Apparently Lonelymonk decided to just get all the things done for Riot Quest accessories, to brighten up the table

NotThatOne also knocked out a bunch of terrain pieces, a Mountaintop Shrine for Bushdo. Apparently also with Batman.

SimonS got back to basics and made an Infernal portal for use in the Oblivion campaign!

I chose a particularly earthy dice for to determine this month’s winner, in line with the Landscaping theme. Per the laws of interdimensional causality and probability extraction, this month’s winner is KrrNiGit! Usual drill, sir, email me your mailing address and we’ll get something on the way to you next time we’re at the post office.

It’s October. Halloween’s on the way, even if we can’t celebrate it in the usual manner in the interest of public health and safety. It’d be so easy to just say “Undead” or “Horror” or “CaptainSpud’s Birthday” but I’d rather give you a little more wiggle room this time around. For October, your target keyword is RISE. Rise from the dead, lift your spirits (or someone else’s if you’re a necromancer), launch skyward in a jetpack, wear impractically high heels, what have you. Pick up your brushes and RISE to the challenge.

Send in your pics of newly painted shinies to by Noon EST, October 28th. Deadline is deadline, people. Once more, one random participant will receive a little somethin’ somethin’ in the mail. You want somethin’? You gotta submit! Don’t forget to include your online handle! Oh, and if you can make the pics attachments to the emails rather than inline, that’d help me on the formatting end.

One Response to Paint The Target

    Anger is an energy.

*sigh* I’m going to have to add him to the to-convert list. I don’t think I’m going to manage it for this round though.
