  • CaptainCon Photodump!

Posted on February 13, 2019 7:00 am by gdaybloke Comment

We’re back from CaptainCon! You know what that mean? It means you get to see a bunch of pics from the trip! I know you’re utterly thrilled at the concept. CaptainCon was a bunch of good times strung together to make one larger good time, thanks to the efforts of the New England Privateers and everyone who came to participate in the shenaniganry. We’ll post an overview of the fundraiser soon, but for now, the photodump!

Choosing the right road trip partner can make all the difference. (Yes, you can insert  your own d’awww here)

Down with follicles! Up with chrome domes! Luxuriate in your shiny heads, my friends, it’s a whole new month and a whole new Target! But before we give you November’s theme, we need to sit back, relax, and enjoy the glorious work of some marvelous painters who really appreciate turtle wax in a way it wasn’t necessarily originally intended. Let’s look at October’s entries!

Oh, Drew… your brushiness always inspires. This Dragon Tyrant may not have any scales, but those forehead wrinkles – he’s clearly spending all his time worrying about his progeny and whether they’re wearing their cardigans in cooler weather.

  • GenCon Photodump 1: Privateer Press

Posted on August 8, 2018 7:00 am by gdaybloke Comment

Hi Losties! I’m back from GenCon, and have much to show you. It’ll be spaced out over the next few weeks as I wade through all the photos, but I thought we’d start with pics from the Privateer Press booth. Lost Hemisphere has been lucky to have a great relationship with Privateer for many years now, and visiting with the Privateer crew is always, without fail, one of the highlights of GenCon, regardless of what new, shiny goodness they’re releasing Of course, this year it was city-smashing Monsterpocalypse. I was fortunate enough to record some natterings with Oz, which will be shared with the unboxing of the starters… for now, for your visual enjoyment, Sightings at Privateer Press’s GenCon booth…

Day one, and the line is a-movin…

  • Gday At GenCon: ALL THE PINS!

Posted on August 26, 2014 7:00 am by gdaybloke 2 Comments

So I’m not going to lie, I may have gone a little overboard collecting Privateer Press pins at GenCon. I’ve wanted to get some for, well, since we heard that they were coming out, and I’ve avidly followed the assorted Privateer Press Insider blogs that relate to them, but in the end I just wasn’t prepared for the niftiness. I walked into that booth, past guardian of the gate Nick Kay, and promptly boggled at the pin carousel and proceeded to load up my basket.

And then there was the trading! If you spotted a pin you wanted on a Privateer staffer’s lanyard, you could offer to trade any pin that they didn’t currently have, for the one you were after. This was key because there’s a number of alternate scheme pins that you can *only* get by trading with staffers. At GenCon this was the alternate Chibi Ashlynn, which we’ll get to in a minute.

Three full lanyards and a decent portion of satchel later, and Will Hungerford tweeted me at my… best? Worst? Either way, there was a lot of heavy metal hanging around my neck at the end of Friday night, so I thought I’d showcase what I ended up with once all of the trading was done.

  • Nova Nomads’ Feat of Service

Posted on June 5, 2014 10:02 am by gdaybloke Comment

The Warmachine and Hordes community is full of some amazing people. I’m not talking about the players who rock the top tables event after event (sweet as they may be, they’re not the topic of this post), I’m talking about the guys and gals who are more interested in giving back than they are in taking heads. Every year Lost Hemisphere runs a charity fundraiser at Templecon (most recently working with the New England Privateers), and I’ve been humbled time and time again by those not only forking over portions of their convention budget to buy prize tickets, but also those offering prize support, dedicating their time and effort to making the fundraisers successful. We have Foodmachine and Breast Cancer Brawls. We have events supporting animal shelters, hostels, we even have community members branching out into other avenues of geekery that try to make their world a better place, like the 501st.

This weekend there’s an event being run by the Nova Nomads, and I can only apologize here and now that I wasn’t able to get a promotional post out about it earlier. I’m going to blame my being out of the country, and the fact that I’m still trying to play catch-up now that I’m back.

The event in question is the 1st Annual Nova Nomads Feat of Service, a charity event benefitting the Wounded Warriors Project, which endeavors to provide care and assistance for not only those who’ve suffered illness or injury in military service, but also for their families – their spouses, carers and children.

I first heard of the event through Lostie Plarzoid, Lost Hemisphere is proud to be associated with this event as a sponsor, with the Lost Crew providing the winner of the Hobby Champion award a huge based model of their choice. True to Lost Hemisphere style, the Hobby Champion prize is not awarded to the player with the most points scored during the day, but rather will be awarded based on modelling, creativity, and just how cool they’ve written the fluff for their warcaster or warlock. Have fun with the game, win stuff.

Oh, didn’t I mention that it was a Spell Draft event with custom warcasters and warlocks? Cool, huh. You can find the rules they’re using on the Nomad’s website, as well as check out the prize support, and maybe even click the donate button yourself to help them reach their donation goal of $2000.

I’d write more, but I’m supposed to be at work right now, and I just wanted to get the word out there. If you’re in the area, please consider dropping by to cheer the participants on. If you’re not, please consider visiting th website and maybe, just maybe, helping them ring that $2000 bell.

    Cheers.

  • High Command: Savage Guardians

Posted on January 12, 2014 10:10 pm by gdaybloke Comment

IKRPGGday80Not gonna lie, the release of Big Guns for the Warmachine side of High Command had me giggling like the proverbial guy who giggles at High Command expansions. Menoth is my homeboy, so adding more toys to the Menite arsenal appealed on so many levels. Accordingly, I can understand exactly where the Hordes High Command fans are coming from when we’re talking about this month’s release of the first Hordes expansion, Savage Guardians.  You can find the card list here, if you’re so inclined, but for those of you allergic to downloads, I’ll provide a little rundown.
