Paint The Target: October Results, November Challenge

In discussion with a new acquaintance this afternoon I was reminded of the early 90’s, and how excited we were when the X-Wing PC game first released. Many of us had no real experience with flight simulators, so the concept of playing with one hand on the joystick and the other on the keyboard wasn’t familiar (get your mind out of the gutter, Yaum). To that end, one of us would pilot our starfighter while the other would play the role of Astromech droid, controlling the energy feeds, funneling power to the lasers or shields and controlling the shield coverage as needed. It was totally the norm to hear “Shields, dammit!” being bellowed through the halls.

Conveniently, October’s Target was models with shields or shield-like effects, and we have our very first X-Wing Miniatures repaint!

ForsakenPoptart decided his TIE Advanced, a TIE Fighter with shields and hyperdrive capacity, needed to be more reminiscent of bubblegum.

Lostie Lonelymonk painted four Aradus, all of which have the Carapace rule. Only two of them signed their release forms.

Dieson’s been plugging through his Khador, with the Black Dragons monopolizing his brush right now.

FifthColumn has decided to show us all up with his beautiful filigree and ribbon freehand, helping Constance Blaize really… blaize…

NinjaSteve! Hermagherd! The Black Diamond Diamondback is ready to menace those sneaky Doctrine types…

From the desk of VoltRon, some Malifaux! Metal Gamin take offense when you swear at your soldering iron.

Wannabe Kiwi NotThatOne rocked out the Horthol dismount, teeny shield and all

If you asked a Basilisk what they thought of Voltaire, they might tell you VoltaireWasRight. Well, assuming it was a Krea that he painted.

Why, look! It’s a Doctrine Librarian from Valrus, all ready to take on NinjaSteve’s Diamondback from earlier!

Now, Thadrin, yes, the Totem Hunter has punching spikes on his shield and uses a spear, but somehow I don’t think that’s the correct model…

Each of these Warders looks like they’re either yelling “Gannon!!!” or muttering it through clenched teeth. Only appropriate, since he painted them…

Alright, gathering around, kids, it’s that time. I’ve consulted the oracle, read the tea leaves, and called that octopus that kept predicting match winners in the World Cup. This month’s participation prize goes to: THADRIN??!!?? Alright, Alright, fine… Don’t do it again… Send me that address!

November’s challenge is be rock the dual-wield. Melee or ranged, makes no difference to me, but whatever your entry is, it should have a different weapon in each mitt! If your model has weapons held in MORE than two hands – like, some, I dunno, swordfighting octopus – then you get a bonus entry in the participation draw 😉

Send in your pics of new shinies to by Noon EST, November 28th. Deadline is deadline, people. Once more, one random participant will receive a little somethin’ somethin’ in the mail. You want somethin’? You gotta submit! Don’t forget to include your online handle! Oh, and if you can make the pics attachments to the emails rather than inline, that’d help me on the formatting end. Bonza!
