Paint The Target

April Showers bring May Flowers and a new Paint The Target post! This is a true statement, he said, as he looked out his window at the rain and gave up any thoughts of gardening today, in favour of putting together a blog post showing a whole bunch of furry friends! April’s target was to get in touch with your wild side, painting animals… or things wearing bits of animal… or models themed or named after animals… really, it’s a pretty broad theme. What I didn’t expect was all the chibi goodness. Huzzah and stuff! On with the show…

Myself, I finally finished the Ondori Clan Kaiken for Ninja All Stars. Angry Chicken Ninja will likely appear in a future Chibi Wednesday post to talk about his impact on the boardgame, but for now… Bu-Caw!

NotThatOne’s kicking the pigskin around with Guild Ball. This month his Union and Mortician team mascots look… well, one looks well fed, and the other’s all ghostly and stuff. My immediate question, who killed the wooden post in such a horrific way that it’s manifested as a ghost post?

Treville2001 sends us our very first Arcadia Quest model. Nibbles just wants your carrots…

Strigiform cracked out the master voodoo gator, Calaban the Grave Walker. He walks very seriously.

Lostie Carl got his SDE on and painted four of the pets… yes, the undead rabbit still counts as a pet…

Dieson painted Harlan Versh, who, strictly speaking, is wearing a leather coat and is therefore a cow. Anyone who’s played against Harlan on the tabletop may also declare him to be a cow. It’s a valid judgment.

Stygian Marx hit us with a double whammy – Beatrix the Witch Queen, her pumpkin chariot pulled by black cats, and a swarm of Rabid Squirrels.

From across the pond, Kurt Hanson dumps a frosty handful of Glacier King on our lap, clad in fur and bone.

Ranny128 was feeling Marvellous (see what I did there?) and send us a spider, a kitty, and a guy who he claims is a beast on the tabletop. Okay, fine, spurious reasoning accepted.

As always, one participant wins a prize. I don’t care how expertly you paint, all I care is that you do paint. That you take up a brush and apply paint to model and embrace this aspect of the hobby. The bones have been cast, and the winner of April’s Anmal challenge is: STRIGIFORM!!! Congratulations! Once I’ve got a mailing address for you, I’ll be putting Proteus in the mail for you!

Woot Woot! Send me that address!

May Flowers? Pfft. Organic materials… May’s challenge is WEIRD SCIENCE. I’m talking Robots and Rayguns, Steampunk and Scientists of the mad variety. Insane Doctors, Alchemists and Artificers of the Weird. Clockwork and Chemistry, Boffins of the Fantastic. Let me see test tubes and tesla coils, cables and cannisters. Yes, this category includes warjacks and pretty much every science fiction game.

Send in your pics of new shinies to by Noon EST, May 28th. Deadline is deadline, people. Once more, one random participant will receive a little somethin’ somethin’ in the mail. You want somethin’? You gotta submit! Don’t forget to include your online handle! Oh, and if you can make the pics attachments to the emails rather than inline, that’d help me on the formatting end.
