Turns out I know some pretty neat people. Okay, we knew that already, but every once in awhile something even niftierthan normal occurs, if you can imagine that. This time around I’m referring to the hulking yellow monstrosity you see above.

Those of you who’ve been paying attention will know that while I’m stil suffering from an acute case of FADOS (Faction Attention Deficit Ooh! Shiny!), I’ve committed to playing Khador for the Scars of Caen leagues this year, primarily using Old Witch’s Invisible Army and backed up with Strakhov engaging in assorted shenanigans.

Lostie Travis (better known as Autojack here on el Bloggerino) recently nabbed himself an airbrush and decided that a good test of his skills would be to tackle the Conquest that I picked up at Templecon. This Monday night just past, I was able to put him on the table and shoot large-bore cannon shells at Everblight’s minions, and in accordance with the smashtasticness, I thought a short post for you to meet the new toy in all its glory was appropriate.

  • Gday At GenCon: Cosplay Photodump

Posted on August 19, 2014 7:00 am by gdaybloke 2 Comments

As anyone following the Twitter and Facebook feeds will be aware, I actually *was* at GenCon this past weekend! Hah, tricked you! I only managed to squeak in two of the four days, but it was an awesome experience in no small part thanks to Ninja Steve (and the Admiral) who played host, Faultie who played constant companion and guide to foods, and so many other very fine peeps including, but not limited to, the Privateer staffers who made their presence felt during my very first GenCon.

There’s going to be several posts based on the weekend’s shenanigans, including at least three photodumps, so I thought I’d get started with one of those.

I did NOT go to GenCon with the express intention of snapping pics of Cosplayers, and Lord knows there were dozens of excellent costumes that I didn’t snap any shots of, but here are some that caught my eye for one reason or another. Wheee!

Just for Lost pal Rich, it’s Aquaman and his (admittedly small) army of seahorses!

One of the biggest bombshells to hit the Warmachine world in recent times was the announcement that we were getting six new Novice Warcasters as part of the rewards available from the Warmachine Tactics Kickstarter. Of course, not everyone was able to participate in and/or support the Kickstarter, but the good folks at Privateer have made sure that no-0ne’s being left in the dust. While there were special sculpts made available as Kickstarter rewards, this month we get to place our grubby mitts on general release versions that have been added to Privateer’s ongoing catalogue of niftiness.

Today we start with Kovnik Andrei Malakov.

Kovnik Andrei Malakov, the arrogant twit who barely managed to salvage his position in Rites of Passage, comes in five pieces.

In which Gdaybloke rambles some more about his experiences with the Old Witch’s theme force

Playing the Invisible Army has been a challenge for me. Prior to my taking up the theme force, I’d never before played Khador, let alone the Old Witch in particular. I’ve never had to deal with fielding light skirmishers that didn’t have a gimmick that let them take out specific targets, such as Daughters of the Flame and anatomical precision, or Mage Hunter Strike Force with Jack Hunter. Pertinent to this post, while I’ve enjoyed units of spellcasters before in the form of Battle Mages, I’ve never had to rely so heavily on three-man units of squishy fellows with questionable survival skills, for whom I have to pay four points.

Yup, we’re talking about the Greylord Ternion. I’m going to ramble on a bit here, but I hope you’ll  bear with me.

Relax, don’t do it! At least, not before listening to the latest Lost Hemisphere Radio, in which your intrepid hosts Northblade and Gdaybloke natter with the head of the Royal Canadian Wargamers Association about their endeavours to send a team to the 2014 World Team Championships in Poland. Thrill as Gdaybloke brain farts and forgets what three times nine is! Marvel As Northblade and guest Tim Banky discover that they’re actually the same person, building the same armies on the same schedule! Boggle as Chris breaks Tim’s mind by trying to validate the Old Witch’s theme force!

As usual, find the shenanigans on iTunes, or grab ’em from the linky: Linky!
